Art conglomeration: The BUDDHA!!

After long I had a strong urge to do a pencil sketch.

Of late I have been trying to tick off many things off my bucket list - and this Buddha sketch had been on my mind since ages I would say.
And I am glad it did turn out pretty well.

This time for the sketch I experimented with a

• Graphite Crayon

Even though it was my first with it - the graphite crayon worked like a charm.

I equally put the HP 2B pencil to use, for highlights and shading. And the eraser played an indispensable role to lighten out the brighter shades. :)

Art conglomeration : Glass Painting - Ganpati Bappa

After a long time I dug my hands to unveil the artistic side in me.
I tell you these hobbies really make a huge difference in your life - for me it actually works like a therapy to relieve me of the stress of the week. And the immense satisfaction on seeing the end result is heavenly - however good or average it might be.
It just reminds me that I should keep trying and with time I shall become better at whatever I am trying to achieve.
Everyone MUST adopt a hobby - this should be inculcated as a part of the childhood learning's.

Ganpati Bappa to be sketched down on a glass had been on my wish list since the time I did my first glass painting. Not that I did numerous paintings after that, albeit this is my second only. :D

So first let's start by the things you would need:

1. Glass
2. Cloth
3. Glass paint - I used the Camlin glass colors (soluble based)
4. Black Glass Outliner
5. Design
6. Metallic Acrylic colors
7. Poster colors
8. Brush
9. Palette

First and foremost the glass needs to cleansed - you could wet the glass and clean it with a cloth thoroughly. Make sure there are no marks left on the glass. Let the glass dry completely before you start with your artwork.

First would need to place the design on the base of the glass and start tracing over it. This has to be done with the black glass outliner - if your design asks for it.
Since I had to do a blue outline of the Ganpati - I used brush and the glass paint colors to trace over the design as you can see below.
On the base, I took a white sheet and shimmered it with golden, silver acrylic metallic colors over the orange base done with poster color. Overall it did bring out beautiful texture and the color combination was gracious. :)
You would need to let the painting dry for a good amount of time - at least overnight.

If you have fillers to be colored then you could use the glass colors directly on the glass - as they have nozzles too.
I prefer using the brush for the flexibility and comfort it offers. Pour the glass colors on a palette and use the brush to accomplish your work.

Art conglomeration : Name plate making

As part of hobby classes conducted at our office premises - this time I made an attempt at name plate making.
I always thought it to be a tedious task - but it is so much fun to do it. It is playing with your creativity and the shapes your hands can work up to.

This is my first attempt at name plate making.

Materials required:

• MDF board coated with a base paint
• Fevicryl Shilpkar - 2 packets(50 gm each)
• A piece of sponge
• Fevicryl acrylic colors
• Camel Poster colors
• Varnish
• Paint brushes - of various sizes
• Fevicol
• Color pallet

The shilpkar has two packets in it - whenever you start preparing the dough, you have to take equal proportions of both of them and mix them well. See in the pictures below. You can put little talcum powder on your hands - so that the mix does not stick to your hands. This mix takes almost 90 minutes to form. The mix should become white in color, and after that you can start using it to give it shapes.When you stick the Shilpkar to the MDF board, use Fevicol to stick it to the board.The mix will stick without it - but just to be extra sure.

Within this time frame of 90 minutes - you can give various shapes to the dough. You might need little hands on - but with little practice it will be just fine.

After the initial design has been setup on the MDF board - allow it to dry for around 2-3 hours. In this time frame, you can alter as much you can, but once the Shilpkar dries you can make any amends to your design.

With the passing of 2-3 hours,apply the desired acrylic colors.

For dabbing you can use sponge - which gives easy accessibility over the small area to be covered.

Once colors have been applied, let it rest over-night and there you are ready with the first nameplate of your choice! :)

The last step to retain the longevity and the shine, is to coat it with varnish. This acts like a protective layer over the designs.
